About Us

The LSU Health Sciences Center Foundation was founded in 1988 to support and promote the charitable, scientific, and educational mission of the LSU Health Sciences Center. The Foundation is a private, institutionally related foundation formed to solicit donations and receive and manage funds including endowments for the benefit of the LSUHSC. The Foundation is a private §501(c)(3) non-profit corporation and defined by the IRS as a “public charity.”

The LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans provides education, research, patient care services and community outreach. The Center educates health professionals and scientists at all levels. Its major responsibility is the advancement and dissemination of knowledge in medicine, dentistry, nursing, allied health, public health and basic sciences. Statewide programs of clinical and basic health science research are developed and expanded by the LSUHSC. This research results in publications, technology transfer and related economic enhancements to meet the changing needs of the State of Louisiana and the nation.
